I’ve had a slightly sub-standard week, what with coming back from holiday and worrying about unemployment, but it’s hard to be too miserable on a Friday when the sun is shining and the temperature is a freakish 29 degrees. For some reason summer has decided to make an extremely late appearance, making the whole country happier in the manner of this genius Boots ad.
So if you’ve had a less than ideal week too, here are a few things that have cheered me up, all animal related for some strange reason.
- A gigantic yellow Swedish rabbit needs a home (via India Knight’s tumblr) Plus he is a work of art (by Florenteijn Hofman), so actually this is a great investment! A win-win situation for any buyer. I would like to purchase him for the roof of my block of flats. I’m sure we could retrospectively work out any planning permission issues.
- Practically the exact opposite of a giant Swedish rabbit: a tiny ginger monkey named Tango has been born at London Zoo. Awww. I must see this monkey ASAP.
- OMG DOGS JUMPING IN THE AIR, from A Fanciful Twist. This made me laugh harder than anything has done in ages. I want to print out these pictures and have them on my bedroom wall so I can see them when I wake up.
- Wow, parrots are ace. This post on metafilter about an African grey parrot named Bongo made me happy, and introduced the phrase ‘parrot anecdotes’ into my Google search record. It also reminded me of a This American Life episode (although don’t bother with the second half which is a good short story but sort of depressing)
Hope you all have a good weekend! I have some actual sewing content coming up for tomorrow (probably).
